NEW DELHI, June 7 (Xinhua) -- At least five Naxals were killed in two separate gunfights with government forces in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, the police said Saturday.
The gunfight broke out in the Indravati National Park area of Bijapur district, about 390 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.
With this, seven Naxals, including commanders, were killed in the three-day operation in the state. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including two assault rifles, has been seized from the sites.
The police told the media that the operation was launched on specific intelligence information suggesting the presence of Naxals in the area. ■
