BEIRUT, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Tuesday stressed Lebanon's commitment to staying on the reform track in a meeting with Ernesto Ramirez Rigo, head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Lebanon, who reaffirmed the organization's support for Lebanon's reform process.

"The IMF stands ready to support Lebanon as it continues implementing crucial financial and economic reforms," Rigo said, according to the National News Agency, emphasizing the fund's ongoing commitment to the country's recovery.

The IMF mission is assessing Lebanon's financial and economic situation.

Rigo briefed Aoun on the results of recent meetings with key ministers and stakeholders, outlining several issues that require further review.

Aoun welcomed the IMF delegation and expressed appreciation for the fund's continued engagement and support.

"We thank the IMF for its sustained attention to Lebanon, especially in helping us reactivate and stabilize our economic and financial systems," Aoun said, for his part.

He outlined key reforms and recent appointments made by the government, stressing Lebanon's determination to stay on the reform track despite the country's difficult circumstances.

The president also reaffirmed his commitment to facilitating the IMF mission's work. "The reforms we are pursuing ... are a Lebanese necessity," he emphasized, pointing to efforts underway to address structural issues and restore confidence in state institutions.

Aoun added that the government is fully aware of the challenges ahead but remains resolute in pushing forward with a comprehensive reform agenda that serves the Lebanese people.

Earlier in the day, the Lebanese president called for the immediate digitization of the country, describing it as a critical step toward modernizing the state and restoring effective public service, while attending the "Smart Government: Diaspora Expertise for Lebanon" conference organized by the Lebanese Executives Council.
